wins SBC contract to support IPTV
Amdocs won a multimillion-dollar, multiyear contract from SBC
Communications Inc. to support SBC's "Project Lightspeed" initiative,
the communications company said Wednesday.
Project Lightspeed is SBC's $4 billion capital initiative to expand
fiber optics to deliver Internet protocol television (IPTV), voice and
broadband services.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
St. Louis-based Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX) provides billing and customer
relationship management software to the telecommunications industry.
Under the contract, Amdocs will provide the SBC companies with
services supporting customer service, based on Amdocs' billing,
customer relationship management, ordering and payment products.
Amdocs also will provide consulting and systems integration services.
SBC expects the fiber optic project to reach 18 million households, as
part of its initial deployment, by the end of 2007. The company plans
to offer the first set of products under the U-verse brand in late
2005 or early 2006.

Illinois.
